THE GOSPEL OF THE SEED

The smallest seed disappears beneath the soil before it is ever seen above it. To the eye, it seems lost. Yet hidden from sight is the very place where life begins.

So it is with the truth of God’s word.

Many reject the gospel because they do not immediately see its power. But the seed does not announce its work with noise. Quietly it sends down roots before it reaches toward heaven.

Our Lord said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how” (Mark 4:26-28). God’s truth often works in silence before it bears fruit in public.

The skeptic may mock the seed because it looks so small, but no philosophy has ever produced what the gospel has produced. It has softened hearts of stone, turned persecutors into preachers, and given hope to dying men.

The life is not in the sower but in the seed itself. “The seed is the word of God” (Luke 8:11).

Never be ashamed to sow God’s word. A seed lying in your hand can feed no one, but planted in faith it may become a mighty tree.

So let us scatter the gospel generously, trusting the Lord of the harvest to give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6, 7).

_______________

Father, make me faithful to sow the seed of Your word wherever You lead me. Give me patience to trust Your work, courage to proclaim the gospel, and confidence that Your truth will accomplish what You have purposed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
