#324 PARTICIPATING IN THE POSSIBILITIES 19-23-26
Life is filled with possibilities, but we must learn to participate in them. It is easy to spend our days thinking about what might happen, what we would like to accomplish, and what we wish were different. But there comes a time when we must stop talking about possibilities and begin doing something with the opportunities God has placed before us.
The Bible teaches that God has given us the ability and responsibility to live with purpose. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). This does not mean that we can accomplish everything we imagine, but that Christ gives us strength to face the responsibilities and challenges before us. We must not allow fear, discouragement, or the possibility of failure to keep us from doing what we can.
We also need to recognize that possibilities often require participation. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). We cannot expect to see the fruit of our labor if we are unwilling to plant the seed. We cannot encourage others if we never speak a word of encouragement. We cannot serve God while remaining content to sit on the sidelines.
Paul encouraged the Christians in Philippi to continue growing in their faith, reminding them that “it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). God works in us, but we must respond to His leading and put our faith into practice.
We may not be able to do everything, but we can do something. We may not be able to change every circumstance, but we can change how we respond. Do not spend your life merely admiring the possibilities. Use the opportunities God gives you, serve where you are, and trust Him with the results.

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize the possibilities before us and give us the faith and courage to participate in them. Keep us from being paralyzed by fear or distracted by excuses. Help us to use our opportunities to serve others and glorify You through Jesus Christ. Amen.
