#262 LIFE IS LIKE A WINDING ROAD 10-10-26

Life is like a winding road. We can see where we have been, but we cannot always see where we are going. There are straight stretches when the journey seems easy, sharp turns that catch us by surprise, and hills that require more strength than we thought we possessed. Yet every mile gives us another opportunity to learn, grow, and draw closer to God.

We often wish the road ahead were easier to understand. We want to know what tomorrow holds, where our decisions will lead, and why certain things happen when they do. But God does not promise to show us every turn before we reach it. Instead, He calls us to trust Him. Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Sometimes the road takes us through valleys of sorrow. Sometimes it climbs mountains of difficulty. There are seasons when we wonder whether we have taken a wrong turn. Yet even when we cannot understand our circumstances, we can remember that God has not abandoned us. The apostle Paul endured hardships, disappointments, and dangers, but he continued pressing forward in faith. He understood that the Christian life was a journey of perseverance, not a promise of uninterrupted comfort.

We must also remember that we cannot drive yesterday’s road again. Mistakes may teach us, regrets may humble us, and painful experiences may shape us, but yesterday cannot be recovered. Today is the opportunity God has placed before us. We can choose kindness, practice forgiveness, share the gospel, and encourage someone who is struggling along the way.

Jesus Christ is the hope of our journey. He is not merely a destination we hope to reach someday; He is our Savior and Lord as we travel through this present life. When the road grows dark, His promises remain true, and His resurrection assures us that death will not have the final word.

You may not know every turn in the road ahead, but you can travel it with confidence when you know the One who leads the way.
