#228 THE DIFFERENCE CHRIST MAKES 10-3-26

Christ makes a difference. Not merely a little difference. Not simply an improvement around the edges of our lives. Jesus changes everything. When Christ enters a life, yesterday does not have to dictate tomorrow. The past can be forgiven, the present can be strengthened, and the future can be faced with hope.

PARDON

The first difference Christ makes is pardon. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Our past cannot be erased by good intentions, but it can be forgiven by the grace of God. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

Jesus does not pretend our sins never happened. He provides forgiveness for them. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).

POWER

Christ also makes a difference by giving us power to live differently. Christianity is not simply receiving forgiveness and then trying to survive on our own. Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

The gospel gives us power to say no to sin, power to endure trials, power to forgive, power to serve, and power to keep walking when the road becomes difficult. “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

POSITIVITY

Christ also gives us a reason to look forward instead of constantly looking backward. Our hope is not based upon circumstances. “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Christ does not promise an easy life. He promises His presence, His strength, His peace, and ultimately victory.

That is the difference Christ makes.

He gives us pardon for the past, power for the present, and positivity for the future.

And that is more than a difference.

That is a new life.
