#229 WHEN WE CONFESS 10-3-26
“There is no sin in your past that is bigger than the grace of God.” That truth is beautifully found in 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Notice the promise begins with confession. God does not ask us to hide our sin, explain our sin, excuse our sin, rename our sin, or pretend our sin never happened. He asks us to confess it. There is freedom in telling God the truth.
And then notice what God does. He forgives. He cleanses. He does not merely acknowledge our confession. He removes the guilt of sin through the blood of Jesus Christ.
John had already said, “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). All sin means all sin. The sin you remember. The sin you wish you could forget. The sin that still troubles your conscience.
God is faithful.
Your emotions may change. Your circumstances may change. People may remember what you did. But God keeps His promise.
If you confess, He forgives.
So do not run from God because you have sinned. Run to Him. The cross is not a monument to how bad you are. It is the proof of how great His grace is.
Confess it. Leave it. And walk in the light.
