#208 NO MORE WASTED DAYS 9-29-26

There comes a time when we realize that time is one thing we can never get back. We can replace money. We can rebuild what was lost. We can start again after failure. But yesterday will always remain yesterday. “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).

Too many days can be wasted wishing we were somewhere else, waiting for circumstances to change, regretting what cannot be undone, or worrying about what has not yet happened. Meanwhile, today quietly passes through our hands.

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Redeeming the time means recognizing the value of the moment God has placed before us.

You may have wasted yesterday, but yesterday does not have to control today. Peter failed Jesus, but failure was not the final chapter of his life. Paul persecuted the church, but God gave him a new assignment. The prodigal wasted his inheritance, yet when he came home, the Father was waiting.

There is still something you can do today. Someone you can encourage. Someone you can forgive. Someone who needs to hear about Jesus. A prayer you can pray. A good work you can accomplish.

James reminds us that life is “a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).

So let us stop wasting the days we have left. Yesterday belongs to mercy. Tomorrow belongs to God. But today is in our hands.
