#207 HELP FOR THE HURTING HEART 9-29-26
There are hurts that cannot be seen from the outside. A person can smile, shake your hand, go about the business of the day, and still carry a heart that is quietly breaking. Sometimes the deepest wounds are the ones we do not know how to explain.
The good news is that God does not require us to explain everything before He comes near. “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18). He sees what others cannot see. He knows the thoughts we cannot put into words. “You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8).
Jesus understands the hurting heart. He was “a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3). At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus knew resurrection was coming, yet “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). He does not stand far away from human sorrow. He enters it with us.
When your heart is hurting, bring it to Him. “Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you” (Psalm 55:22). You do not have to carry tomorrow’s pain today. Grace will be there when tomorrow arrives. “As your days, so shall your strength be” (Deuteronomy 33:25).
Sometimes God heals the heart by changing the circumstances. Sometimes He heals us by giving strength to walk through circumstances that do not immediately change. Either way, His presence is precious. “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
So breathe. Pray. Cry if you need to. Rest in the arms of God. The night may feel long, but the Lord has not forgotten you. “Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
Your heart may be hurting, but you are not alone. God is still near.

Father, You know the hurts we cannot explain and the tears we cannot hide. Draw near to every broken heart today. Give peace where there is anxiety, strength where there is weakness, and hope where there seems to be none. Help us trust You when we cannot understand what You are doing. Remind us that Jesus is near to the brokenhearted and that Your love has not changed. Carry what we cannot carry, heal what only You can heal, and help us take the next step with faith.
