#209 COURAGE AND CONVICTION 9-29-26
There is a difference between knowing what is right and having the courage to stand for what is right. Conviction tells us where we must stand. Courage gives us the strength to remain there when standing becomes difficult.
The Bible is filled with people who discovered that doing God’s will sometimes requires standing alone. Noah built an ark when the world around him had no interest in listening to God. Daniel continued to pray when prayer became dangerous. The apostles were commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus, but they answered, “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
Conviction does not mean that we enjoy confrontation. It means that there are things more important than our comfort. Paul told Timothy, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Biblical courage is not recklessness. It is faithfulness when fear is present.
Joshua stood before an uncertain future and heard God say, “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
That promise still speaks. We may not know everything tomorrow will bring, but we can know who walks with us into tomorrow.
There will be times when conviction costs us something. It may cost popularity, friendships, opportunities, or convenience. But Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
Let us be people whose convictions are anchored in God’s word and whose courage is strengthened by God’s presence. Stand when you must stand. Speak when you must speak. Love when you must love. And when the road becomes difficult, remember that courage is not the absence of fear. It is faithfulness in spite of fear.

Father, give us courage to stand for truth and conviction to remain faithful to Your word. When we are afraid, strengthen us. When we are pressured, steady us. Help us never sacrifice what is right simply to make life easier. Give us the courage to follow Jesus wherever He leads. In His name, Amen.
