THE TRUTH

Christianity is not built upon empty words but upon the living power of the risen Christ. When Peter and John met the lame man at the gate of the temple, they had neither silver nor gold to offer him, but they possessed something infinitely greater.

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, they commanded him to rise and walk, and immediately the man was healed. The miracle was not an end in itself. It was God’s way of opening hearts so that people would hear the gospel.

The greatest evidence of Christ’s power is not merely that He can heal broken bodies, but that He can transform broken lives.

Peter wasted no time directing attention away from himself and toward Jesus. He declared Him to be the Holy One, the Just One, and the Prince of Life. The very One whom men rejected and crucified had been raised from the dead by the power of God.

Every blessing we receive, every prayer that is answered, and every hope we possess is found in Christ alone. The church must never become known merely for its works, but for faithfully proclaiming the Lord Jesus Christ.

The sermon ended with a gracious invitation. Peter urged the people to repent and turn to God so that their sins could be blotted out and they might experience times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.

God’s desire has always been to save, restore, and bless those who come to Him through His Son. The promises spoken through Moses, the prophets, and Abraham all find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

The same Savior who healed the lame man still calls sinners to Himself today. His power is sufficient, His person is glorious, and His promise is sure.

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” — Acts 3:19
