THE FAMILY OF GOD

The gospel does not merely rescue sinners from judgment; it brings them into a household. Salvation is not only pardon in the courtroom of heaven, but adoption into the family of God.

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1).

The believer is not tolerated at a distance, but received at the table as a son and daughter, clothed in the rights of belonging through Christ.

In the natural world, families are formed by birth and bound by shared blood. In the kingdom of God, the family is formed by new birth and bound by the blood of Christ.

Those who once walked in alienation are now brought near, not as strangers who have been reformed, but as children who have been redeemed. “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).

The church is therefore not a gathering of isolated individuals, but a living household where grace has rewritten identity.

And in this family, love is not optional ornamentation but the evidence of true belonging. The Father’s nature becomes the pattern for the children’s conduct.

Forgiveness replaces resentment, and compassion displaces pride, because no one in this house arrived by merit. Every seat at the table is held by mercy alone.

“If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11). Thus the family of God becomes a witness to the world that another kingdom is already at work among men.

So walk carefully among the household of faith. Do not treat lightly those whom God has called His own. The weak brother is not a burden but a brother, and the struggling sister is not an inconvenience but a member of the same redeemed household.

One day the family will be gathered in full, every tear wiped away, every division healed, and every voice united in one praise before the throne.

Until that day, we learn the language of heaven by loving one another on earth.

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” (Ephesians 3:14-15).
