SATURATED WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST

The sun sets on a life that refuses to care for others. A heart turned inward soon grows cold, but a heart filled with Christ cannot help but overflow with compassion. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you” (John 13:34). “Whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (1 John 3:17-18).

We are not called merely to admire the love of God—we are called to become channels through which His love flows. “Bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4). In caring for others, we reflect the steadfast love of the Lord.

Those who have been united with Christ have been raised to “walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). That new life is more than a change of destination; it is a change of heart, mind, and conduct. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We no longer see ourselves as the center of the universe, but as servants of the King. “Through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). “Put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering” (Colossians 3:12), and “be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).

The steadfast love of the Lord is displayed in the way His children treat their neighbors, their brethren, and even their enemies (Matthew 5:44).

As water rushes down a mountain stream, soaking every bank and flooding every low place, so the love of Christ is to fill every corner of our hearts. “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 5:5). We are to be “filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19), so that “out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38).

When we abide in Christ, His love overflows into every conversation, every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every sacrifice for another. “Above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection” (Colossians 3:14).

Let us be so saturated with the love of Jesus that everyone around us is refreshed by the living water flowing from a heart devoted to Him.
