#241 GOD SEES YOU 10-6-26
Genesis 16 gives us one of the most beautiful names for God in the Bible. Hagar, alone and afflicted in the wilderness, encountered the God who saw her. She called Him, “You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees” (Genesis 16:13).
SEEN
Hagar was not invisible to God. Others may have overlooked her, mistreated her, or forgotten her, but heaven had not forgotten her. Psalm 139 tells us that God knows when we sit down and when we rise up. He understands our thoughts from afar. Jesus later taught that not even a sparrow falls to the ground apart from the Father, and that we are of more value than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29–31). God sees what others cannot see.
He sees the tears nobody knows about. He sees the battle behind the smile. He sees the faithful heart that receives little recognition.
SOUGHT
Hagar did not go looking for a theological answer. She was hurting. Yet God came looking for her. The Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness and asked, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?” (Genesis 16:7–8).
God knew the answers, but He wanted Hagar to face them. Sometimes God meets us in the wilderness not merely to change our circumstances, but to change our direction.
SENT
God did not leave Hagar in the wilderness. He gave her instruction and a promise, then sent her back. The God who sees us also gives us somewhere to go and something to do.
Perhaps you feel forgotten today. Remember Hagar. The wilderness was not proof that God had abandoned her. It became the place where she discovered that God saw her.
The same God sees you.
He sees you when nobody else does. He knows your name, your need, your past, and your future. And if God sees you, you are never truly alone.

Lord, thank You for being the God who sees us when others do not. Help us remember that no tear, struggle, failure, or faithful step is hidden from Your eyes. When we feel forgotten, remind us that You know our name and that Your presence is with us. Give us courage to follow where You lead, trusting the God who sees us every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
