THE FREE GIFT OF GOD

The peace that comes from knowing Jesus is a perfect peace. We do not always experience it perfectly, because we live in bodies and have minds that are susceptible to weakness. Physically and mentally, things don’t always work right within us. But that does not change the fact of our position.

When it comes to our position in Jesus, we are absolutely perfect. And we have peace with God (Romans 5:1). We were God’s enemies because of sin and rebellion, but now we are friends of God. Friends, because God has reconciled us to himself through Jesus. He has brought us back.

If you are not saved, Jesus wants to save you. And he is completely capable of saving you. He died on the cross to save you. The plan to save you was his idea. He did all of the work before you were born. So remember that being saved and going to heaven is a very simple matter. How could it not be when Jesus did all of the work and salvation comes to you as a free gift that you simply have to accept?

Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 6:23, as well as other passages, teach us that salvation is a free gift. Something that God gives you. And all you have to do is ask for it. Is it really that simple? Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4 that if she knew the “gift of God” and who it was who was speaking to her—the Messiah, Jesus the Savior—then she would have asked him for this gift. And he would have given it to her. She did eventually receive it. You cannot pay for a gift. You cannot earn a gift. You can only accept it.

Trust in Jesus and always try to do what he says. He loves you, so love him back. When you make that decision, you start talking to him and walking with him. And no one who loves Jesus will ever be lost.
