#346 THE DEVASTATION OF DIVISION 10-29-26

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

Division is a destructive force. It can turn friends into enemies, weaken a congregation, silence a church that once spoke boldly for Christ. What begins as a disagreement can become a dividing wall when pride takes the place of patience and personal preferences become more important than love.

Paul did not treat division among Christians as a minor inconvenience. He pleaded with the Corinthians to be united in their speech, their thinking, and their judgment. Their unity was not built upon identical personalities or personal tastes. It was rooted in their common allegiance to Jesus Christ.

The tragedy of division is that it often causes us to spend more energy fighting one another than serving the Lord. We may win an argument and lose a brother. We may defend our position while damaging our influence. We may protect our pride at the expense of Christ’s church.

Unity does not mean ignoring truth or pretending every disagreement is unimportant. It means approaching one another with humility, speaking with grace, and refusing to let selfish ambition rule our hearts.

_______________

Father, help us put Christ above our preferences, love above our pride, and the unity of Your people above our desire to be right. Amen.
