The word of God shows us the way of God. We walk one step at a time in the love and life of Jesus Christ. As we walk with Him, the light of His love overflows our hearts and shines through our lives. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). He is not merely a light to guide us along the way. He is the One who gives us life for the journey. Without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). This is the way of life in Christ.
THE WAY OF DELIVERANCE
Christ is the One who delivers us “from this present evil age” according to the will of our God and Father (Galatians 1:4). Our salvation begins with the grace and purpose of God, who desires that we be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4). We cannot deliver ourselves from sin by our own strength. Jesus came to rescue us, reconcile us to God, and bring us into the freedom of a new life. We walk this way because He has delivered us and continues to lead us.
THE WAY OF DEPENDENCE
The Christian life is a life of dependence upon Christ. Jesus said, “for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). We do not merely begin with Christ and then try to make it on our own. We depend upon Him every step of the way. Paul declared, “For to me, to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21). Christ is not simply a part of our lives. He is our life (Colossians 3:4). Our strength, hope, wisdom, and fruitfulness are found in Him.
THE WAY OF DEVELOPMENT
God intends for Christ to be formed in us. Paul spoke of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27), and he described his labor for the Galatians as continuing “until Christ is formed in you” (Galatians 4:19). This is the goal of the Christian life. We are being transformed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18), learning to love as He loved, serve as He served, and walk as He walked. We are not simply trying to improve ourselves. We are growing in the life of Christ.
Walk this way! It is the way of deliverance, dependence, and development. It is the way of life, and that life is found in Jesus Christ.
