#328 AND THE GRASS WON’T PAY NO MIND 10-24-26

Elvis Presley recorded a beautiful song called “And the Grass Won’t Pay No Mind.” Its quiet imagery reminds us of something we often forget: the world God created continues its appointed course without waiting for us to notice. The grass grows, the flowers bloom, and the seasons change. Creation quietly testifies to the faithfulness of its Creator.

Jesus told us to consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, and how our heavenly Father clothes them with beauty (Matthew 6:28-30). If God cares for the grass of the field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, how much more does He care for us? We spend so much time worrying about tomorrow that we sometimes overlook the blessings God has placed before us today.

Psalm 19:1 declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.” The natural world is filled with reminders of divine wisdom, generosity, and power.

The grass will keep growing while we worry, hurry, argue, and strive. Perhaps we should slow down long enough to see what God is showing us. Life is brief, but His goodness surrounds us. The next time you walk outside, take a moment to notice the grass beneath your feet and remember the God who makes it grow.
