#309 CHRIST OUR PASSION 10-20-26

“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).

Passion is what captures the heart, commands our attention, and directs our energy. Some live for wealth, others for recognition, pleasure, or power. But the Christian has discovered a treasure that surpasses them all. Jesus Christ is not merely an addition to life; He is the center, purpose, and supreme joy of life itself.

1. The Person Who Captivates Us

Paul did not write, “For to me, to live is success,” or “to live is comfort.” He declared, “to live is Christ.” The Savior who loved us and gave Himself for us deserves more than occasional attention. He deserves our affection, loyalty, and devotion. When we consider His cross, His compassion, His holiness, and His resurrection, our hearts find a worthy object for their deepest love. “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

2. The Purpose That Consumes Us

When Christ becomes our passion, He begins to shape how we spend our time, use our resources, treat our neighbors, and respond to our enemies. We no longer ask only what pleases us, but what honors Him. Paul urged believers to do everything “in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17). Our work becomes service, our conversations become opportunities for encouragement, and our daily conduct becomes a testimony to His grace.

3. The Prize That Sustains Us

Passion for Christ does not eliminate hardship. It gives us a reason to persevere through it. The world changes, health weakens, opportunities disappear, and earthly achievements eventually fade. But Jesus remains worthy, and His promises remain secure. The believer’s greatest treasure cannot be taken by changing circumstances or even by death itself.

Let Christ be more than your Sunday subject. Let Him be your daily pursuit, your deepest love, and your everlasting hope. When Jesus becomes our passion, life discovers its purpose, sacrifice finds its meaning, and eternity becomes our destination.

Lord Jesus, captivate our hearts with Your love and direct our lives toward Your glory. Teach us to seek You above every earthly treasure and remain faithful through every trial. May our greatest passion always be knowing You, serving You, and making You known. Amen.
