#303 LIVING STONES IN A LIVING HOUSE 10-18-26
God is building something that cannot be measured by bricks, steel, or earthly wealth. He is building a spiritual house, and every believer has a place in His design. In 1 Peter 2, we see that Christianity is more than attending religious services or admiring the teachings of Jesus. It is coming to Christ, being shaped by Christ, and living for the glory of Christ.
THE STONE WE MUST SEEK
“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious” (1 Peter 2:4). Jesus was rejected by the very world He came to save, yet heaven declared Him precious. The opinions of men never determine the worth of Christ. He remains God's chosen cornerstone, the sure foundation upon which our lives must rest. When everything else shifts, Jesus remains trustworthy.
THE STRUCTURE WE MUST SHARE
Peter declares that believers are “living stones” being built into a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5). Christianity was never intended to be an isolated experience. God places us together so that we may encourage, strengthen, serve, and love one another. A stone separated from the building cannot fulfill its intended purpose. Likewise, our faith should draw us into meaningful fellowship and faithful service. We are not competing for prominence; we are cooperating in God's work.
THE SERVICE WE MUST SUPPLY
Peter calls believers “a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5). Our worship must extend beyond songs and assemblies into the ordinary hours of life. Kindness, generosity, prayer, obedience, and sacrificial love become offerings presented to God through Christ. We serve not to purchase salvation but because His grace has given us a new purpose.
The world needs more than religious buildings. It needs people whose lives display the character of Jesus. Let us come to the living Stone, stand together as living stones, and offer living sacrifices to the glory of God.
