#301 THE THRONE THAT STILL BEARS THE MARKS 10-18-26
There is amazing love at the heart of the Christian faith: the One who sits upon the throne of heaven knows what it means to suffer on earth. Jesus did not save us from a safe distance. He entered our world, walked our roads, felt our sorrows, and endured our temptations. Our King understands the people He rules.
THE MAJESTY OF HIS POSITION
Hebrews 4:14 declares that we have “a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God.” The carpenter of Nazareth is the Lord of glory. The One who stood silently before His accusers now possesses authority that no earthly court can overturn. He is not struggling to retain His kingdom or waiting for permission to reign. His throne is established, His victory is accomplished, and His authority is supreme. When everything around us seems unstable, we can anchor our faith in the unshakable reign of Christ.
THE MEMORY OF HIS PAIN
Our Savior is not unfamiliar with human weakness. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that He “was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” He knew hunger, weariness, rejection, betrayal, and grief. He wept at Lazarus’s tomb and agonized in Gethsemane. His sinlessness did not make Him insensitive to suffering; His holiness made His obedience perfect through it. We never approach a Savior who dismisses our tears. We come to One who understands our trials and remains faithful in every circumstance.
THE MERCY OF HIS PRESENCE
Because Jesus reigns and understands, Hebrews 4:16 invites us to “come boldly to the throne of grace.” What an extraordinary invitation! The throne that could expose our guilt becomes the place where we find mercy. We do not come boasting of our goodness but trusting His grace. We do not come because we deserve an audience but because our High Priest has opened the way.
The greatest comfort in the universe is this: our King is mighty enough to rule us and merciful enough to receive us. His throne is not merely a symbol of power. For those who come to Him in faith, it is a place of grace, help, and hope.
