#250 CHRIST OUR JOY 10-7-26

Joy is not the absence of trouble. Joy is the presence of Christ in the middle of trouble. Circumstances change, people change, health changes, money comes and goes, and seasons of life rise and fall. But Jesus Christ remains the same. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

Christ does not merely give joy. Christ is our joy.

Paul wrote from prison, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Those words become even more powerful when we remember where Paul was when he wrote them. His joy was not coming from comfortable circumstances. His joy was coming from Christ.

CHRIST IS OUR JOY IN SALVATION.

There is joy in knowing that our sins can be forgiven. Jesus said, “Rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). The greatest reason for joy is not what we possess on earth, but the relationship we have with God through Jesus Christ.

The Ethiopian eunuch understood this. After hearing the gospel and being baptized, “he went on his way rejoicing” (Acts 8:39). His circumstances had not necessarily changed, but his Savior had changed everything.

CHRIST IS OUR JOY IN SUFFERING.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials” (James 1:2). That does not mean we enjoy pain. It means we can see beyond the pain because Christ is with us in it.

Jesus told His disciples, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Our joy does not depend upon defeating every problem. Christ has already overcome the world.

CHRIST IS OUR JOY IN SECURITY.

Peter spoke of believers who rejoice “with joy inexpressible and full of glory” (1 Peter 1:8). Why? Because their faith reaches beyond today. Our hope is anchored in the risen Christ and the promise of eternal life.

One day tears will disappear, death will be no more, and sorrow will have no place in the presence of God. Until that day, we have Christ.

So rejoice. Not because everything is easy. Not because every prayer has been answered the way we wanted. Rejoice because Jesus is Lord. He is with us in the valley, beside us in the battle, and waiting for us beyond the grave.

Christ is our joy today, our hope tomorrow, and our glory forever.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being our joy in every season of life. Help us to rejoice in You when life is easy and when the road is difficult. Keep our hearts fixed on Your presence, Your promises, and the hope we have in You. May our joy in Christ shine through our lives and encourage others to know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
