#249 JESUS THE LIVING WORD 10-7-26
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Before Bethlehem, before Nazareth, before the manger and the carpenter’s shop, Jesus was. He did not begin when Mary gave birth to Him. He came from eternity, because He is the eternal Word.
John says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). The Word was not merely spoken. The Word came walking among men. The invisible God made Himself known through a visible Savior. Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
THE WORD REVEALS GOD.
Jesus is God’s fullest revelation of Himself. The Bible tells us who God is, but Jesus showed us the heart of God in human flesh. He healed the sick. He welcomed sinners. He wept at Lazarus’s tomb. He forgave those who crucified Him. “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son…He has declared Him” (John 1:18).
If we want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
THE WORD REVEALS TRUTH.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). He did not merely teach truth. He embodied truth. His words carried authority because His life perfectly matched His message.
The world changes its definitions constantly. What was praised yesterday may be condemned tomorrow. Opinions rise and fall like waves upon the shore. But Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
The living Word gives us something solid beneath our feet.
THE WORD REVEALS LIFE.
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4). Jesus came not merely to improve our lives but to give us life that death cannot finally destroy.
He said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). At the cross, the Living Word entered death. At the empty tomb, death discovered that it could not hold Him.
That is our hope. The One who was with God, who was God, who became flesh, who died for us, and who rose again is still alive.
The Word of God is living because Jesus is living. And when we come to Christ, we are not merely embracing an idea, a philosophy, or a religious system. We are coming to the One who said, “Come to Me” (Matthew 11:28).
Jesus is the Living Word. Hear Him. Trust Him. Follow Him. And live in Him.
