#237 THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF WALKING 10-5-26
Walking. It is simple, ordinary, and available to almost everyone. You do not need a stadium, a membership, or expensive equipment. Just put one foot in front of the other and begin.
The Bible uses walking as a beautiful picture of the Christian life. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Christianity is not merely about where we started. It is about how we walk.
WALKING WITH GOD
Genesis tells us that Enoch “walked with God” (Genesis 5:24). What a remarkable description of a life. It does not say that Enoch merely knew about God. He walked with Him.
Walking with God means staying close. It means talking to Him, listening to His word, trusting His direction, and making choices with His presence in mind.
Micah 6:8 says, “And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
That is a wonderful way to live.
WALKING IN THE LIGHT
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another” (1 John 1:7).
Walking in the light does not mean we never stumble. The same passage speaks of the blood of Jesus cleansing us from sin. Walking in the light means we are honest with God. When we stumble, we get back up. When we sin, we confess it. When we are corrected, we listen.
The Christian walk is not perfection. It is direction.
WALKING TOWARD HOME
Every step we take reminds us that we are moving somewhere. “For our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20). This world is not our final destination. We are walking toward home.
Some days the road is easy. Other days it is steep. Sometimes we walk with joy, and sometimes we walk through tears. But Jesus walks with His people.
So keep walking.
Walk by faith.
Walk in the light.
Walk with God.
And when the road seems long, remember that every faithful step is taking you closer to home.
