#213 AND GOD SAW THAT IT WAS VERY GOOD 9-30-26

Genesis 1:31 gives us one of the most beautiful descriptions of the world as it came from the hand of God: “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” Before sin entered the garden, before sorrow touched the human heart, before death cast its shadow across creation, God looked upon His work and called it good. Creation was not an accident. It was the deliberate work of a wise and loving God.

It is refreshing to remember that God still sees value in what He has made. We live in a world that has been wounded by sin, suffering, violence, disappointment, and death. Yet the fingerprints of the Creator remain everywhere. The heavens still declare His glory. The earth still displays His wisdom. A sunrise can still stop us in our tracks. The laughter of a child can still remind us that life is a gift.

And perhaps we need to remember that God saw us as part of that creation. Our worth did not begin with human approval, achievement, possessions, or popularity. We are creatures made by God and, more importantly, people whom Christ came to redeem. Sin has marred the picture, but it has not erased the signature of the Creator.

Genesis begins with God bringing order out of darkness. That truth speaks to us when our own lives seem disordered. The God who said, “Let there be light,” is still able to bring light into dark places. He can restore what sin has damaged, renew what has grown weary, and make something beautiful from what appears broken.

The world is not what it was in Genesis 1:31. But God’s goodness has not changed. And the story does not end in Genesis. It moves toward Christ, redemption, resurrection, and ultimately the restoration of all things.

God looked upon His finished creation and said, “It is very good.” May we never become so accustomed to God’s blessings that we forget to look around, look upward, and give Him thanks.
