#193 WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR DAY? 9-26-26
Every morning we are handed something we cannot manufacture, purchase, or save for later: a new day. Twenty-four hours lie before us, and before the sun sets, those hours will have become yesterday. We cannot stop the clock, but we can decide what we will do with the time God has given us. Moses prayed, “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). Counting the days is not what it’s all about. Making the days count is.
DELIGHT IN THE LORD
Begin your day with God. “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). The day becomes different when we recognize the One who gave it to us.
Before the demands of the day begin speaking to you, let God’s word speak. Before the world tells you what matters, remember what matters to God. “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
A day that begins with God has already begun in the right direction.
DEVOTE YOURSELF TO WHAT MATTERS
Not everything deserves your attention. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). There will always be another message to answer, another problem to solve, another distraction waiting at the door. If we are not careful, we can spend an entire day doing things without doing anything that truly matters.
Give your time to people. Give your attention to those who need encouragement. Give your mind to the things of God. Give your hands to useful work. Give your heart to Christ.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23). Even ordinary work becomes sacred when it is offered to God.
DO THE GOOD THAT IS BEFORE YOU
Sometimes we wait for a great opportunity while ignoring the small opportunities already standing in front of us. Galatians 6:10 says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
You may not be able to change the whole world today. But you can change somebody’s day. You can make a phone call. You can pray with someone. You can forgive someone. You can feed someone. You can encourage someone. You can tell someone about Jesus.
The day is moving.
The question is not whether you have enough time to do everything. You do not. The question is whether you will use the time you have for the things that matter most.
When tonight comes, may we be able to look back and say that we did more than simply get through the day.
We lived it for Christ.

Lord, thank You for giving me this day. Teach me to use my time wisely, to recognize the opportunities You place before me, and to put Your kingdom before everything else. Help me to serve, encourage, love, and do good while I have the opportunity. May I not merely pass through this day, but live it for Jesus. Amen.
