THE LIGHT THAT FADETH NOT (A Poem)

The roses trembled in the Light,
Though clouds withheld the Day,
The stubborn Dawn declined to rise,
And shadows kept their stay.

Along the steel and silent Creek,
Where waters never cease,
We learned the stream remembers well
The language whispered Peace.

The Darkness claimed no lasting throne,
The Night could not remain,
For God’s own Son entered the world
And summoned Light from pain.

The red horizon pierced the clouds,
And turned the heart within,
While searching eyes looked everywhere
For signs of hope again.

The wings of distant aircraft moved
Across the endless blue,
The barking dogs announced the earth
Still waking to the new.

And through the hours long and deep,
The flowing waters say,
The Light that came into the world
Will never fade away.

Praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
