Living to Please Christ
We are too sinful to do the will of God in all things in and of ourselves. We are here to please our Creator, not to please ourselves. Jesus said multiple times that He came to do the will of His Father. ohn 4:34
“Jesus responded, My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to accomplish His work” (John 4:34). “I can do nothing of myself. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I do not seek to do my own will, but the will of the one who sent — my Father” (John 5:30). “Because I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of the one who sent me” (John 6:38). “So that the world will know that I love the Father, and I do just what the Father commanded me” (John 14:31).
If Jesus was focused on doing the will of God rather than His own will, we certainly should not be seeking to do our own will. Jesus was the only perfect man who ever lived. He had the right to be independent, but He willingly let go of His equality with God in order to serve God on our behalf (Philippians 2:5-11).
The only way to be pleasing to God is to seek to please Jesus Christ. The Father judges us by how we react to His son Jesus. Everything revolves around Christ. If you want to be pleasing to God, then make sure that you try to follow Christ in all things. Make sure that you seek to do His will in every area of your life.
“We make it our goal to be pleasing to Him” Paul said (2 Corinthians 5:9). Pleasing Jesus is doing what He says. It is living in a way that makes Him smile so that we will be one with Him. I want my life to be pleasing to you, Lord. That is the attitude of the faithful Christian who loves Jesus. Look to Him and live for Him.
