FLOWERS ON THE HILLSIDE

The flowers that bloom upon the hillside are among God’s quietest preachers. They do not strive for applause, nor do they complain that few pause to admire them.

They simply unfold their beauty beneath the eye of their Creator.

Storms bend them, winds buffet them, and the heat of the day tests them, yet they continue to bloom because God clothes them with life.

Our Lord pointed to such blossoms and said, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow” (Matthew 6:28-29). If the Father lavishes such care upon flowers that bloom today and fade tomorrow, how much more will He sustain those who belong to His beloved Son?

The hillside is not always an easy place for a flower. The soil is often thin, the climb is steep, and the weather can be severe. But many of the loveliest blossoms are found where the path is hardest.

And so it is with the child of God. The sweetest graces often bloom in seasons of trial.

Patience grows where burdens are heavy.

Hope shines brightest in the darkest night.

Humility flourishes when pride has been broken.

The Lord is able to make His people fruitful in the most difficult places, for His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

A believer rooted in Christ may blossom where others imagine nothing could survive.

Let us therefore seek not the praise of men but the smile of God. The flower does not ask who is watching. It opens its petals toward heaven because that is what it was created to do. May our lives be the same.

Whether we are noticed or forgotten, honored or overlooked, let us bloom where the Lord has planted us. “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9).

One day, the Gardener who has faithfully tended every hidden blossom will gather His redeemed into His everlasting kingdom, where they shall flourish forever in His glorious presence (Psalms 92:12-14).
