#38 CHRIST OUR LEADER 8-26-36
Jesus Christ is not merely someone we admire. He is someone we follow. He is our Leader, and if He is our Leader, then our lives must be shaped by His love, His life, and His leadership. “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). Christianity is not simply believing in Christ. It is following Christ.
HIS LOVE shows us the heart of our Leader. Jesus did not lead from a distance. He came near. He touched the hurting, welcomed the forgotten, forgave the repentant, and ultimately gave Himself for sinners. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). The love of Christ was not merely something He talked about. It was something He demonstrated with His life and His cross.
HIS LIFE shows us the pattern we are to follow. Jesus lived with compassion, purity, courage, humility, and obedience. He prayed when others slept. He served when others wanted to be served. He stood for truth when truth was unpopular. He loved people without compromising righteousness. His life tells us what holiness looks like when it walks around in human flesh. “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:6).
HIS LEADERSHIP calls us to surrender our own way. A leader cannot lead someone who refuses to follow. Jesus said, “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19). That invitation still stands. He leads us through His Word. He leads us through His example. He leads us toward righteousness, toward service, toward sacrifice, and ultimately toward heaven. We do not need to know everything about tomorrow if we know who is leading us today.
Christ is our Leader. His love is our motivation. His life is our example. His leadership is our direction. So let us keep our eyes upon Him, our feet upon His path, and our hearts surrendered to His will. The safest place a Christian can ever be is following Jesus.

Lord Jesus, teach me to follow You faithfully. Let Your love become my motivation, Your life become my example, and Your leadership become my direction. Help me surrender my will to Yours and follow You wherever You lead. Keep my eyes on You until I reach my heavenly home. Amen.
