Christians do not have to fear heretics, false teachers, or the forces of darkness. Our confidence is not in our own strength, our wisdom, or our ability to answer every argument. Our confidence is in Jesus Christ, who has overcome the world.
The darkness of evil did everything it could do to Jesus. Men rejected Him, religious leaders condemned Him, and wicked hands nailed Him to a cross. It appeared that evil had won. But the cross was not the end of the story! Jesus rose from the dead, victorious over sin and death. What appeared to be Satan’s greatest triumph became the demonstration of God’s power and wisdom.
John declares, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). We do not overcome falsehood by surrendering to fear, hatred, or despair. We stand in the truth of God’s word, confess Jesus Christ, and walk in His love. John reminds us that those who know God listen to the truth, while error belongs to the spirit of deception (1 John 4:5–6).
An ancient Latin proverb declares, Magna est veritas et praevalet: “Great is the truth, and it will prevail.”
So let us stand firm, speak the truth in love, and trust the victorious Christ. Darkness has limits, but the truth of God will never fail.
