#331 CHRIST IN THE ARENA 10-24-26

Christianity is not a spectator sport. We are called to enter the arena of everyday life with our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ. The arena may be our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, or places of service. It is where faith meets difficulty, love meets opposition, and conviction meets the demands of daily living. In every arena, Christ is our example, our strength, and our hope.

HIS WALK

Jesus walked among ordinary people while displaying extraordinary holiness. He entered homes, touched lepers, welcomed sinners, and showed compassion to the suffering. His steps were directed by the Father's will, and His life demonstrated what it means to walk in love. Ephesians 5:2 calls us to “walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us.” Following Jesus means allowing His character to shape our conduct. We must carry His compassion into our conversations, His humility into our relationships, and His faithfulness into our responsibilities.

HIS WORK

Jesus did not come just to talk about goodness. He came to accomplish the Father's work. He healed the sick, taught the truth, served the needy, and ultimately gave His life for our sins. In John 9:4, He declared, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day.” His example shows us that opportunities for service are precious. We cannot meet every need, but we can faithfully serve the people God places before us. A cup of cold water, a visit to the lonely, a word of encouragement, or a faithful witness for Christ can become part of a life devoted to God's purposes.

HIS WISDOM

The arena of life is filled with competing voices, persuasive opinions, and difficult decisions. Jesus provides wisdom that the world cannot manufacture. His teachings challenge our pride, correct our selfishness, and direct us toward eternal values. He taught us to love our enemies, forgive those who wrong us, and seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 5:44; 6:33). His wisdom is not simply information to admire but truth to obey. When we face uncertainty, we must turn to His teaching rather than surrender to the changing standards of the crowd.

HIS WELCOME

Perhaps the most beautiful truth about Christ is that He welcomes those who come to Him. He does not call the weary to impress Him with their strength. He invites them to find rest in Him. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). His welcome extends to the brokenhearted, the repentant sinner, and the person who fears there is no place left to turn.

The arena can be exhausting, but we do not face it alone. Christ walks before us, works through our faithful service, teaches us with His wisdom, and welcomes us into His grace. Let us enter each day with courage, knowing that the greatest victory is not applause from the crowd but faithfulness to our Lord.

________________

Father, help us follow Christ's walk, participate in His work, learn from His wisdom, and rest in His welcome. May our lives bring glory to Jesus in every arena. Amen.
