#326 REAL TIME CHRISTIANITY 10-24-26

God calls us to live with Christ in the reality of everyday life. Our faith must reach into our decisions, our relationships, our work, our struggles, and our service to others. Jesus Christ is not simply someone we read about in the Bible. He is our living Lord, and following Him is a daily experience.

Real time Christianity means that what we believe about Christ becomes visible in the way we live for Him. The gospel changes our standing before God, shapes our character, and gives us strength for the journey.

THE SALVATION

Christianity begins with what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We were unable to rescue ourselves from sin, but God demonstrated His love through the death and resurrection of His Son. “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Salvation is not a human achievement but the gracious provision of God. We respond to His grace through faith, repentance, and obedience to the gospel. We are not saved by our own goodness, but we are saved to live a new life of goodness. We are created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Real time Christianity begins when we take the message of Jesus seriously enough to entrust ourselves to Him.

THE SEAL

God does not save us to leave us wandering without direction. He gives us the assurance of His presence and the promise of His Spirit. Paul told the Ephesians that after believing the gospel, they were “sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13).

A seal signifies ownership, authenticity, and security. Those who belong to Christ are called to reflect the character of the One who has claimed them. The presence of God's Spirit should be evident in lives marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

The seal is not an excuse for spiritual complacency. It is a reminder that we belong to God and must live in a manner consistent with that relationship. Our words, attitudes, and actions should testify that our lives are under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

THE SERVICE

Real time Christianity is Christianity in action. Jesus demonstrated love through compassion, sacrifice, and service. He said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

Our faith must reach beyond the walls of a church building. It must touch the lonely, encourage the discouraged, comfort the grieving, help the needy, and speak the truth in love. James reminds us that faith without works is dead (James 2:17).

We cannot do everything for everyone, but we can do something for someone. A telephone call, a hospital visit, a meal, a kind word, or a willingness to forgive may become an instrument through which Christ's love reaches another person.

Christian service is about making the goodness of our Lord visible in the world.

THE STRENGTH

Living for Christ is not always easy. We face temptation, disappointment, exhaustion, opposition, and seasons when the road ahead seems uncertain. Real time Christianity requires strength beyond our own.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Paul was not claiming freedom from hardship but declaring his dependence upon Christ in every circumstance. The same Lord who saves us also sustains us.

We find strength through prayer, through the Bible, through fellowship with other believers, and through the daily decision to trust God's wisdom rather than our own understanding. When we are weak, His grace remains sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).

We do not have to face today's burdens with yesterday's strength. We can turn to the Lord today, trust Him today, and faithfully follow Him today.

Christianity is real when Christ becomes central to the reality of our lives. The salvation He provides, the seal of His ownership, the service He calls us to perform, and the strength He supplies belong together. Let us not merely profess Christ with our lips while neglecting Him in our daily living. Let us walk with Him, work for Him, love through Him, and trust Him in every circumstance.

_______________

Heavenly Father, thank You for the salvation You have provided through Jesus Christ, the assurance of belonging to You, the privilege of serving others, and the strength You supply each day. Help us to live out our faith in the realities of everyday life, reflecting the character of Christ in everything we do. May our lives bring glory to Your name and lead others to the saving knowledge of Your Son. In Jesus' name, Amen.
