#320 CHRIST, OUR TIME 10-22-16
Time is one of our most precious possessions, and you cannot get more of it than what has been allotted to you. Houses can be replaced and cars can be replaced and possessions can be replaced, but not time. There is no literal making up for lost time. And yet the most important consideration is not how much time we have, but what we are doing with our time.
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Every day presents opportunities to love, serve, forgive, encourage, and point someone toward Jesus Christ. The danger, though, is in the temporary matters that we must often give attention to. We live in the real world, in real time. And it is extremely easy to let the matters of earthly life completely eclipse the more important matters of eternity.
Christ deserves more than the leftovers of our schedules. He deserves the first consideration of our hearts, the direction of our decisions, and the devotion of our days. We do not merely give Christ a portion of our time; we learn to live every portion of our time in fellowship with Him.
James reminds us that our life is “a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14). Life is brief, but a day surrendered to Christ can carry eternal significance.

Lord Jesus, teach us to number our days wisely. Help us use our time to love others, serve faithfully, and glorify You. Amen.
