#316 THE COLLISION OF WAITING, WORKING, AND TRUSTING 10-22-26

What happens when waiting and working and trusting collide? Well, that is what life often calls us to do. And there is tremendous wisdom in it.

THE WISDOM OF PATIENCE

Patience is the strength to wait without surrendering our faith. This is a world of instant answers, immediate gratification, and hurried decisions. God often accomplishes His greatest work through seasons of waiting. Abraham waited for the promised son. Joseph endured years of injustice before his dreams became reality. David was anointed king long before he occupied the throne. Delay is not necessarily a denial. James 1:4 teaches that patience must have its perfect work so that we may become mature and complete. Sometimes God changes our circumstances; sometimes He changes us while we wait. Wisdom knows the difference between moving forward in faith and running ahead of God.

THE WORTH OF PASSION

Patience teaches us when to wait, but passion reminds us why we must work. Christianity is not a lifeless collection of religious habits. It is a life surrendered to Jesus Christ, animated by love and devoted to His purposes. Paul wrote, “not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11). Passion is not merely excitement that burns brightly for a moment. It is a settled determination to do what is right, even when nobody applauds and the results seem small. The passionate Christian keeps serving, forgiving, encouraging, teaching, and reaching for the lost. Love gives labor its meaning, and faithfulness gives passion its endurance.

THE WONDER OF PROVIDENCE

Beyond our patience and our passion stands the providence of God. We cannot control every circumstance, anticipate every difficulty, or understand every turn in the road. And none of these things are necessary. We can trust. We can trust the One who sees the end from the beginning.

Joseph told his brothers that what they intended for evil, God intended for good (Genesis 50:20). That does not mean every painful event is good, but it means evil does not defeat God's purposes. His providence reminds us that our limited vision cannot measure His wisdom. We must do what is ours to do and trust Him with what belongs to Him.

_______________

Heavenly Father, grant us patience when we must wait, passion when we must work, and faith when we cannot understand. Keep us from discouragement, spiritual laziness, and anxious attempts to control tomorrow. Help us recognize Your goodness, serve others faithfully, and trust Your wisdom in every season. May our lives bring glory to Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen.
