#315 WHEN KNOWLEDGE OF GOD DISAPPEARS 10-21-26

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6).

Israel’s problem was not that God had failed to speak. Their problem was that they had failed to listen. The people had abandoned the knowledge of God, and their spiritual ignorance was producing devastating consequences. From Hosea 4 we see that a nation, a church, and an individual cannot thrive spiritually while neglecting the Lord.

The Rejection of Truth

“Because you have rejected knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Ignorance can be overcome through learning, but rejection is something more dangerous. When people refuse the truth because it interferes with their desires, they exchange divine wisdom for human foolishness. We must love the truth enough to accept it even when it corrects us.

The Ruin of the People

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Spiritual ignorance is not harmless. When people forget God’s character, neglect His teaching, and abandon His ways, their lives begin to reflect that departure. A Bible left unopened, a conscience repeatedly ignored, and a heart resistant to correction can lead to consequences far greater than we imagine.

The Responsibility of Teachers

Hosea addressed the priests who had failed in their responsibility to lead the people. Those entrusted with teaching God’s word must take that responsibility seriously. Preachers must not merely entertain an audience or repeat popular opinions. They must teach the truth faithfully, helping people know the God who has revealed Himself through His word.

The answer to spiritual darkness is not human opinion but a renewed hunger for divine truth. Let us open our Bibles, humble our hearts, and allow God to shape our thinking and our living.

________________

Heavenly Father, give us a hunger for Your truth. Forgive us when we neglect Your word or resist its correction. Help our teachers to proclaim Your truth faithfully and help Your people to receive it humbly. May we know You more deeply, love You more sincerely, and reflect Your character more clearly each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
