#307 WORK 10-19-26
God never intended for His people to live in isolation, each pursuing personal interests without regard for others. The Christian life is a life of service, cooperation, and shared responsibility. Whether we are serving in the church, caring for our families, or reaching out to those in need, we should work together in love and humility. The goal is not to make our own names great but to glorify the name of Jesus Christ.
WORK WITH HUMILITY
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself” (Philippians 2:3). Pride asks, “How can I get ahead?” Humility asks, “How can I help?” When selfish ambition controls our hearts, cooperation becomes competition. We begin to compare our accomplishments, demand recognition, and resent another person’s success. But when Christ rules our hearts, we can rejoice when others prosper and serve faithfully even when nobody applauds. Humility does not mean believing we have nothing to offer. It means using whatever God has given us for the good of others.
WORK WITH CONSIDERATION
Philippians 2:4 continues, “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Love teaches us to look beyond our own schedules, struggles, and desires. We begin asking what others need and how we might encourage them. Romans 12:10 adds, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.” Imagine a choir in which every singer tries to overpower everyone else. The result is confusion rather than harmony. Beautiful music emerges when each singer listens, follows the direction, and contributes to the whole. God’s people likewise accomplish more when they learn to serve together.
WORK BY SHARING BURDENS
Paul gives us another practical command: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Some burdens are too heavy for one person to carry alone. A struggling family may need assistance. A grieving friend may need someone willing to listen. A weary Christian may need encouragement to keep going. We cannot remove every hardship, but we can help others bear what life has placed upon them.
Christian service is not a contest to see who can do the most. It is a calling to do our part faithfully while helping others fulfill theirs. When humility governs our hearts, consideration guides our actions, and burdens are shared in love, the work of God moves forward.
Let us work together, not for personal recognition, but for the glory of Christ and the blessing of others.

Heavenly Father, teach us to work with humility, consideration, and love. Remove selfish ambition from our hearts and help us rejoice in the success of others. Give us eyes to see those who are struggling and willing hands to help carry their burdens. May our service bring unity to Your people and glory to Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen.
