#281 THE AROMA OF CHRIST 10-14-26
There is a fragrance that cannot be purchased in a bottle, captured in a garden, or manufactured in a laboratory. It is the aroma of Christ, the spiritual fragrance that rises from a life surrendered to the Lord.
“For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). What a remarkable thought! God intends for the life of every Christian to carry the fragrance of His Son into a world filled with the stench of sin.
We spread this aroma through kindness, truth, forgiveness, and sacrificial love. When we answer cruelty with gentleness, serve without demanding recognition, and speak truth without abandoning compassion, people catch a glimpse of Jesus. We may never stand behind a pulpit, but our daily conduct can preach a powerful sermon.
Mary once broke an alabaster flask of costly perfume and anointed Jesus, filling the house with its fragrance (John 12:3). Love has a way of filling a room. So does genuine devotion to Christ. Let it flow through you.
The question is not merely whether we talk about Jesus, but whether our lives carry His influence. Do people encounter a little more patience, mercy, and holiness because they have encountered us?
May our words be seasoned with grace, our hands occupied with service, and our hearts overflowing with love, until everywhere we go, the aroma of Christ lingers long after we have left.
