#245 JESUS THE BRIDGE 10-6-26

There is a great distance between where sin has taken us and where God wants us to be. Sin separates. Death divides. Guilt creates a chasm that human effort cannot cross. But the gospel is the story of God building a bridge where there seemed to be no way across.

That bridge is Jesus.

THE DIVINE BRIDGE

Jesus did what no human being could do. He came from heaven to earth, taking upon Himself flesh and dwelling among us (John 1:14). He was fully acquainted with our humanity, yet without sin. He became the Mediator between God and men, “the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

The distance was real, but so was God’s love.

THE DEATH BRIDGE

The cross is where Jesus carried us across the gulf created by sin. “Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

Notice those words: “that He might bring us to God.”

Jesus did not merely make forgiveness possible. He came to bring us home.

Isaiah said, “All we like sheep have gone astray,” but the Lord laid our iniquity upon Him (Isaiah 53:6). At Calvary, the righteous One suffered for the unrighteous.

THE DESTINY BRIDGE

Jesus is not merely the bridge from guilt to forgiveness. He is the way to the Father. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

The bridge has been provided, but we must cross it.

There is no reason to remain stranded on the side of sin when Christ has opened the way home. The cross stands between our past and God’s promise. Grace reaches across the distance.

Jesus is the bridge.

He brings the sinner to the Savior, the guilty to forgiveness, the lost to home, and the dying to life.
