#240 THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF WAITING 10-5-26
Waiting is not always easy. We live in a world of instant messages, instant information, instant meals, and almost instant everything else. But God has never promised us instant answers. Sometimes the most important work He does in our lives happens while we are waiting.
WAITING WITH PATIENCE
“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord” (James 5:7). Patience does not mean doing nothing. It means trusting God while we continue doing what He has called us to do.
Abraham waited for the promised son. Joseph waited through years of difficulty. David waited to become king. Again and again, the Bible shows us people learning that God’s timing is not careless timing.
WAITING WITH PURPOSE
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength.” Notice that waiting can actually make us stronger.
Sometimes we think the only useful season is the season when something is happening. But God can use the quiet seasons too. Waiting can teach us to pray more deeply, trust more completely, and listen more carefully.
A seed spends a long time underground before anyone sees what is happening above the surface.
God may be doing something beneath the surface of your life.
WAITING WITH PROMISE
The greatest reason we can wait is because God keeps His promises. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise” (2 Peter 3:9). God’s delay is not God’s denial. His clock does not run late.
There may be prayers you have prayed for years. There may be answers you still cannot see. Keep trusting Him.
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
Waiting is not wasted time when we are waiting on God.
So wait with patience.
Wait with purpose.
Wait with promise.
The God who was faithful yesterday has not changed today. And when His answer finally comes, we may discover that the waiting was preparing us for the very thing we were waiting to receive.
Sometimes faith means moving.
Sometimes faith means standing.
And sometimes faith means simply waiting for God.
