#197 THE SAVIOR NAMED JESUS CAME TO US 9-27-26
The Savior named Jesus came to us.
That simple truth changes everything. Christianity is not merely the story of people searching for God. It is the story of God coming in search of people. Before we ever knew how to look for Him, He came looking for us. Before we understood our need, He came to meet it.
Jesus said to the religious leaders, “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me” (John 5:39). The Bible is not ultimately about our search for information. It is about God revealing His Son. Every page moves us toward Christ.
And when we walk with Christ, we are walking with Someone who came to seek.
Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
That was His mission. He came looking for Zacchaeus. He came looking for the Samaritan woman. He came looking for Peter after Peter had failed Him. He came looking for people nobody else wanted. He came looking for the lost, the broken, the wandering, and the forgotten.
And it is beautiful to realize that Jesus came to us before we came to Him.
Think about David in 1 Samuel 22. David was hiding in the cave of Adullam, and those who were distressed, in debt, and discontented gathered around him. They came to David because they needed somewhere to belong. The rejected found refuge with the rejected.
There is something there that points us toward Christ. Jesus is not frightened by broken people. He does not require us to become perfect before coming near. He receives those who come to Him, and He gives them a place among His people.
Hebrews 1:13 asks, “But to which of the angels has He ever said: ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool’?”
The One who came to us is now seated at the right hand of God. The Jesus who walked dusty roads in Galilee is reigning in heaven. The Savior who sought the lost is the Savior who now intercedes for His people. His earthly journey was not the end of the story. The One who came down has been exalted above all.
And because He came to us, He teaches us to go to others.
James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
We cannot claim to walk closely with Jesus while walking past the people He came to save. His mission becomes our mission. His compassion becomes our compassion. His concern for the forgotten becomes our concern for the forgotten.
The Savior named Jesus came to us.
He came seeking.
He came saving.
He came serving.
And now He calls us to walk with Him into the world He came to save.
We are not walking alone. We are walking with the One who came looking for us.
